Our Causes: Space

"We are not here to curse the darkness, but to light the candle that can guide us through that darkness to a safe and sane future.”

-  John F. Kennedy, American President, 1917-1963 AD

Children in school today will one day have the opportunity to live and work in space.

President John F. Kennedy's challenge in 1962 to put Americans on the moon inspired an entire generation of scientists, engineers, artists, and others to think boldly and see beyond the limits of current technology. Hollywood's and the media's glamorization of astronauts with "the right stuff" inspired an entire generation to reach for the stars.

60 years later, the pursuit of travel from Earth into space and beyond still represents the cutting edge of exploration, where determination, innovation, and technology must combine in new and compelling ways. The entry of private space companies like Blue Origin and SpaceX, and the return of lunar missions with NASA's Artemis program, have rekindled popular interest in living off-Earth.

In recent years, First Light Education and First Light Studios have been working with Blue Origin, NASA, AIAA, and others to help bring the mystery and wonder of space to students so that they imagine themselves playing a role in the future space economy. Once that link is made, we help connect students with career paths through a wide variety of formal and informal programming, events, and activities.

If you are equally passionate about space travel and the future of life off-Earth, please contact us so we can explore partnership opportunities, including how we can work together in the STEM education field.
